PL tone chart
Repeaters use a quiet sub-audible tone, often called PL or CTCSS, so they only open for radios that send the right one. Tap a tone to copy it.

How to use a tone
- Set the transmit tone (TX CTCSS) so the repeater opens for you.
- Leave the receive tone off at first so you hear everything on the channel.
- A tone is not a password or a privacy feature. Anyone can hear you.
- Wrong tone, no repeater. It is the first thing to check.
